The "Grand Prix"
Liliana said- Let's go to Melbourne for your birthday.
It had been a long time since I last went to a Formula One Grand Prix, in fact it was in the 50's, when El Chueco delighted the crowds in the racing circuit of Riachuelo and General Paz.
We arrived to Melbourne, after a one thousand kilometres journey and we soon learned that there was a public transport strike. The government hired private buses to take people to the circuit at Albert Park. We joined the queue at the bus stop, but to our surprise the people didn't move and the bus was so full that we decided to take our own vehicle. It was quite difficult to find a parking spot, but finally we succeded and parked our car near the circuit.
We found our seats on the stand and, Liliana began to read the program of the day, while I was making myself comfortable at her side. The service was very good: you hardly requested a drink when some guy would drop down with a coke.
It was a while before the start of the race, when an announcement came through the loud speakers, soon after that I was flooded by lots of people requesting information.
In the race, Liliana took the leading position closely followed by other competitors. Eventually she had to make a pit stop allowing me to discount only a few seconds. At great speed Liliana arrived to the final straight to receive the chequered flag.
After the race, we were deeply moved to find something that belongs to us. The best driver of all times is still Juan Manuel Fangio.
