My unofficial site of The 1st Australian Field Hospital which was stationed at a base in Vung Tau within the 1st Australian   Logistic Support group. Which was previously setup and occupied by 2 Field Ambulance on the 1st April 1966. Where they remained until April 1967, when 8 Field Ambulance took over the Medical duties. 8 Fld remained until 1st April 1968 when the Hospital took over the site and became the main Australian Medical unit in Vietnam. 8 Field Ambulance moved to Nui Dat where it already had a detachment setup. The hospital remained  in operation until the last Australian ground forces returned to Australia on the 14th December 1971. At this time most of the units   personnel also left the country leaving sufficient staff behind to pack up the unit. The last of which returned to Australia in February 1972.The unit was relocated to Ingleburn in New South Wales. This is not the official history and is only meant as a brief   introduction to the unit. Enjoy my Stories, Photo's and some History about my service at the 1st Australian Field Hospital in Vung Tau South Vietnam
during the conflict known as the Vietnam War....Please scroll down for other pages.
